Hey Devon. I just saw your tumblr post and decided to donate. I’ll have to eat bologna sandwiches for the rest of April but it’s worth it. That’s a lie actually, and I don’t think that would be punishment anyways ;) I follow your blog and like what you post… I love running and anything Seattle, keeps me motivated! It makes me want to be there though. I don’t request anything like you said, challenges or otherwise. It’s a great cause and I’m lucky enough in life to be in a position to help random folks at random times. Oh… have fun running! Consequently I’ll be up there visiting my cousin in Seattle the first week of May and decided to run the Tacoma Half on the 1st. If you look way towards the back, the 9 minute milers, I’ll be in there somewhere! Good luck!!! Cheers, -James

THANK YOU, you rock!! Since this will be my first half and is my first time fundraising, this means so, so, so much. LOVE that the donation is in part because of how much you love Seattle.

Way to commit to the Tacoma Half – that’s sick! And if you’re with the 9-minute milers, that means you’ll run way faster than I will! Be sure to post all about it – good luck to you!!

Support!

I just got my first notification that someone donated to my half marathon fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society, and of course it was Aaron! Still, I’m so excited to have my first donor : )

Will you be next?? Tumblr challenges, physical or otherwise, in exchange for donations (any amount!) are welcome in my ASK box!

Devon needs everyone’s support to fulfill her fundraising goal of over $1000! It all goes to the American Cancer Society and will also support Devon running her first half marathon!

Nice, thanks Dev! When’s the next 5k?

Hi Abel! You’re welcome – I’m very excited to rock the GUTS t-shirt. I’m actually taking a break from 5Ks and moving on up… doing my first 10K in April, my first 15K in May (on my 24th birthday!) and my first half marathon in June!

I just pledged to raise more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society as I train for the half marathon, so I may need some tips on fundraising from you, the master. I’d be happy to take on some Tumblr challenges, like your epic Thin Mint challenge, in exchange for donations, but my only offer so far is a bit iffy…

aaronpass: “Go to the zoo and ride a kangaroo. Twenty bucks. Final offer.”

I’m in love.

Lately I’ve been experiencing shin pain while running – something that hasn’t bothered me since I very first started running – and I realized that my shoes were completely shot. On the advice of a Seattle Do Lifer (robscomeback, perhaps?), I spent some quality time at Super Jock ‘n’ Jill tonight and found myself a new lover: a pair of Brooks Defyance 4 shoes.

I took them to the gym for 3 pain-free miles in 29:13. For the first time in a while, I felt “in the zone” and basked in all the ways I love running. I can’t wait to take them outside. I’m stupid-happy right now.

And, hey, the Do Life: Seattle video is thisclose to hitting 2,000 views. Word!

Team IntimiDation… I mean DetermiNation!!

I’ve officially signed up to run and raise money with the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation team for the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon this June! I’m excited to train with a group and a knowledgeable coach, as well as contribute to a great cause.

The team has officially been training since early February, but I’m jumping into my first team run this coming Saturday at 8 a.m. I’ve been training on my own for my first 10K in April. The run on Saturday is 7 miles. Hmmmm.

The coach emailed me the training schedule today and it is in.ti.mi.dating. I feel like I’m way behind and everyone will know it. I’ve been doing kinda lousy tempo runs and speed intervals on the treadmill rather than legit training runs at the track. I’ve been snoozing peacefully on Saturday mornings rather than knocking out long runs.

But I bet everyone will be nice and welcoming. Nobody will make me feel dumb or behind the group. And once I get my very own DetermiNation shirt, I’ll blend right in with the pack, running full speed ahead to my very first half marathon.

Heya Devon! it was great to meet you at the Do Life 5k and I wanted to say how awesome the video was (even if I am the queen of awkwardness, haha). Out of curiosity would it be possible to get copies of some of your photos from the event? (not to post anywhere, just to have :) Looking forward to maybe running/racing sometime with you in the future!

Yay, Courtney, way to get a Tumblr! Thank you for participating in the video 🙂

I will put ALL the pics Aaron and I took at the meetup on a Flickr or Photobucket account tonight (I forget which one I already have…) and post the link on Tumblr for everyone who may be interested. Feel free to grab pics as you wish and post them on your blogs, and maybe link to Aaron and me, but mostly Aaron because his pics are cooler.

Also, feel free to mention how good-looking Aaron is, and how awesome I am at badminton.
