GPOYW: Super-Sketchy Old Navy Fitting Room Edition
Yes, it’s still Wednesday on the
West BEST coast! You heard me.
It’s REALLY hard to find comfortable shorts that aren’t too short/tight or too long/baggy. Who woulda thought Old Navy would come through with these basic chino shorts for only $19??
(It’s not shorts weather in Seattle, unfortunately. But it is in Hawaii — where I will be landing in about 48 hours!!)
I have a bunch of plain spaghetti squash left over from when I made spaghetti squash casserole with ricotta and spinach this weekend (my review of it here), and tonight was my first attempt at using it up.
I sauteed a minced clove of garlic in olive oil, then threw in some spaghetti squash and baby spinach and cooked it until the spinach wilted. Along with sauteed asparagus (my obsession), this was an absolutely delicious dinner.
I’m not even really hungry due to being sick, but this hit the spot AND was good for me!
Oh, Tumblr, I’ve left you hanging for a while.
I’ve been doing all sorts of fun stuff besides running, like batting (horribly)…
…cooking (this became a casserole)…
…and, holy cow, eating delicious cupcakes.
And now I’m sick, so I can’t even fathom running/working out. It’s frustrating because I hate not feeling like myself and not being able to keep up my fitness level. I felt like I did pretty good with my 5K training, and now I’ll have to start from scratch for the 10K I want to run in April.
Ah, well. We fall. We pick ourselves back up again.
And we run.
Aaron and me – what we look like when not running/sweating/dying.
Race photos are always funny. (Just squint and pretend these are crystal-clear, OK?)
This was near the end of the Valentine’s Day Dash 5K, so I think I was happy to see the finish line, hear Aaron yell, “GO DEVON!” and see that I was going to demolish my old PR by two and a half minutes. Good times.
I get paid to proofread, but did anyone else notice “brith” date on the Pound for Pound Challenge signup? I get a kick out of these things… nerd alert.
I pledged to maintain my weight, although I could probably stand to lose 5 pounds. Gooooo Team Fitblr!
I did Jillian’s 40-minute No More Trouble Zones DVD instead of my planned 20-minute 30 Day Shred DVD and two-mile run (didn’t feel like going to the gym for the treadmill). If you haven’t tried this DVD yet, it’s quite the ass-kicker!
Roasted a bunch of asparagus and zucchini in a bit of olive oil during the workout. Eating half with two fried eggs, saving half for lunch tomorrow. Wheeee!
…since the 5K on Saturday and since I’ve done any sort of exercise.
Well, on Sunday I enjoyed a leisurely 3-mile stroll and took pictures with my new camera. That doesn’t really count.
Monday was Valentine’s Day, so I baked a funfetti cake for my beloved, drank wine and watched The Bachelor. Obviously.
Tuesday… I didn’t feel good. I had about a 30-minute window at work during which I felt I might throw up. I think I ate too much cake batter (the best part of baking). I never did listen to my mom about that.
Three days without breaking a sweat feels like an eternity. Tonight: Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred (Level 2) and two miles on the treadmill. I’m comin’ back!
Toasted sourdough bread + mayonnaise (the REAL kind) + sliced avocado = avocado sandwich.
Plus more avocado on the side, because I couldn’t fit the whole avocado between the bread.
I will eat avocados morning, noon and night, in guacamole, on salads or straight from the rind with a spoon. If I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it might be avocados.
I’m slightly allergic to them — my lips get red and my mouth feels a little puffy after I eat them — but not even that’ll stop me.
And I ain’t sorry.
