Thou Shalt Not Complain (In Public)

Oh snap. I didn’t realize I hadn’t blogged since January 24th. How boring of me!

I guess I just don’t like being too negative online, so when I don’t have anything nice to say, I don’t say anything at all. 

I choose instead to air all my life complaints to Aaron, because marriage is a sacred union in which you can complain to the other person as much as you want and there’s nothing he can do about it because divorce is very expensive and there’s a lot of paperwork involved.

There have been some ch-ch-ch-changes at work that have led to high-stress situations, and to me coming home each day feeling like I haven’t accomplished much good at all, and maybe even failed a little. As a perfectionist who constantly craves a sense of accomplishment, this is not easy or fun. But, it is just another thing to push through and come out the other side better for it.

I also had a minor ear infection that was annoying enough to go to the doctor, and then I took an antibiotic I was apparently allergic to. One day I had a full-body rash, and the next two days — even after I stopped taking the antibiotic — I woke up with my arms and legs swollen like no other and my joints aching like a little old lady. IT WAS EXCITING. And by exciting I mean I cried.

Were those complaints? Or just informative paragraphs? Let’s go with the latter.

Now I’m feeling back to normal, and I only missed one day of marathon training because I moved my rest days to the days where I felt like an old lady, and then ran 8 miles on Saturday and 15 miles on Sunday.

Anyone who lives in a very cold, snowy place needs to scroll past the next paragraph:

I wore shorts and a t-shirt on my long run on Sunday, as it was 55 degrees and sunny. Vitamin D, get in my life. Never leave.

By the way, have you gotten your skin checked lately? I got a full-body check recently and it took less than 10 minutes to get the all-clear. Since the Skin Surgery Center already has photos of my “moles to watch,” it was quick and easy for a physician to make sure they haven’t changed in weird ways. (Read about my first skin screening here.) Plus, I don’t have any concerning new moles, thanks to my vigilant sunscreen usage.

It’s a peace-of-mind thing. Go do it.

Anyway, I’m on week nine of Big Sur Marathon training — halfway there! Aaron and I have planned our post-marathon week in Napa, and I’m suuuuper excited to eat a bunch of food, drink a bunch of wine, and relax.

We also have a trip to NYC coming up next month! We used miles to book our flights (FREE), and we’re staying at a friend’s apartment (FREE), so we’re going to go all-out on amazing meals. Aaron has meticulously scheduled the restaurants we’ll visit for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks/desserts for each day, and I’m seriously wondering if I need to do some pre-trip training to stretch out my stomach to fit all the food. I think my marathon-training “runger” will serve me well.

It’s really good for marrying and stuff.

Also, we are supposedly getting our wedding video next week. Perhaps I will share it here if there’s not too much crying included. We shall see.
