@robbsrunning: I’m with you on that — it’s probably #2 for me. I was dragging as I headed home in the last mile of my run tonight, and I saw a young couple just fly past me in the opposite direction. They seemed to be raring to go for many awesome miles.

I often have the urge to just fly like that. Really wreck some pavement. With practice and patience, we’ll get there!

My first run after the 10K! I seem to like running at about a 9:30 pace. I went easier on the last three miles since my knees are still grumpy from the beating I gave ‘em on Sunday.

I usually run along the Fremont Canal, and many times there are crew teams out rowing. Tonight a women’s team was rowing and their coach was following in a little motorboat, yelling through a bullhorn: “Keep your core strong! Stay linear! Looking good!”

I found her advice to be helpful, as well : D

I’m thinking of signing up for the Seattle’s Best 15k… it the one that runs around Lake Washington right?

I’m so excited for this race!! It actually runs counter-clockwise around Lake Union with an out-and-back along the Ship Canal.

It’ll be an awesome race because:

a) It’s on my 24th birthday (May 21). Woo-hoo!

b) It starts at beautiful Gas Works Park and the whole route is scenic.

c) The course crosses the Fremont Bridge and the University Bridge. The Fremont Bridge is guaranteed to be down between 7:10 and 7:30 a.m., but other than that, you have to wait (and get to rest!) while the bridge(s) open and close. That time gets deducted from your overall time. Fun game!

Also, you get a tech tee and a medal, plus there’ll be aid stations with water, gels and porta-potties every 2 miles. You can find tons of great info here.

The race is limited to 1,000 participants, so register soon! A list of registered participants is posted on the Web site… I’m the 7th person. Like I said, I’m REALLY excited.

Seattle at its best!

We did us a bike ride.

My hamstrings are still reeeally tight and I had a little shin pain today. I decided one more day off from running was best.

It was a beautiful evening for a ride and some city-gazing.

This is the trail I always use for my runs. Love, love, love.

I hope to do an easy few miles tomorrow to get back into it!

Oops.

Last night I did LOTS of stretching, foam rolling and “yoga for runners” poses via YouTube. Instead of doing all that stuff post-race, on Sunday I ate, blogged, checked the official results page incessantly, napped and then drank lots of wine with my roommates.

Always wine with the roommates.

I paid the price yesterday with lots of leg soreness/tightness. My hamstrings are still pretty tight, but better. I might just need a recovery run to help loosen them up.

Lesson #1: Don’t be like me.

Lesson #2: Be nice to your body, or IT WILL RUIN YOU. (Not a paid advertisement for star stretch.)
