Hawaii video!!

For all you early-morning Tumblrs, here’s a video I put together of my recent trip to Hawaii with Aaron (you’ll prob have to click through to see it). It was shot using a GoPro Hero HD and our Canon DSLRs.

The highlights we caught on video: snorkeling and seeing a sea turtle, boogie boarding (including me wiping out!), SKYDIVING, surfing (although the surfing shown in the video was NOT from our surf lesson, which was much more successful than when we rented boards ourselves) and hiking Diamond Head.

I stayed up way too late finishing this last night and it’s been POURING all night and morning so far in Seattle… so it’s nice to look back on sunnier, more relaxed times! Let me know if you like it!!

Sadly, all of this is now 2,678 miles away.

I’m back in Seattle after eight days on Oahu, and I’m currently adjusting to:

a) being inside more often than outside
b) not eating whatever I want, whenever I want
c) wearing pants

I really hate that last one. It was rough tucking my shorts, skirts and dresses into the very bottoms of my drawers and back of my closet, knowing I won’t need them for quite some time in the great Pacific Northwest.

But this was a fantastic trip, and I spent the last evening sipping some of my favorite beer at the Kona pub and watching a spectacular sunset. What more could a girl ask for?

Now back to your regularly scheduled running/gym-going/eating right!

Did my first run in about two weeks yesterday!! I was REALLY sick the week before leaving on vacation, and I’ve been on vacation/still recovering from sickness this whole past week.

We ran from our hotel along Waikiki Beach up toward Diamond Head Beach Park (about 1.5 miles) and then kept walking through some super rich neighborhoods. One house was for sale for $6 million and it didn’t even have an ocean view!! I can’t even imagine what the ocean view/oceanfront houses cost…

We walked back to where we stopped running (it was really hot by this point) and then ran the 1.5 miles back to the beach. We then ripped off our shoes and socks and ran right into the water (significantly warmer water than the kind we ran into during the Polar Bear Dive). It was the best end to a run ever!

Overall, it was nearly 6 miles of running/walking. It felt good to get back to running, but I’ll enjoy the cooler weather of Seattle for my outdoor runs when I get home. : )

We went skydiving over the North Shore of Oahu yesterday. This was my second time, and it was wayyyy better than my first time for the following reasons:

1. I was in Hawaii.
2. They let me jump in just my shorts and tank top because it’s Hawaii.
3. I jumped out over the water and I got to see whales during the freefall. Because I was in Hawaii.
4. My tandem instructor flipped us out of the plane backwards this time and we did a bunch of flips. Probably because he lives in Hawaii, so he likes to do cool stuff like that.
5. My ears didn’t pop violently this time, and I didn’t have a headache afterward. Instead, I went snorkeling afterward. Hawaii.

OK, I’m done! If you’re in Oahu, I highly recommend Skydive Hawaii!!
