Day off!

Smile Friday: Making the video edition. Not sure why I busted out this creepy half-smile. Watch out… I might try to Remeem your Soul!

I’m home today trying to get lots of stuff done before a busy weekend! I cleaned the heck outta this kitchen:

In preparation for friends coming over tomorrow night for a birthday dessert potluck and consumption of this:

Yes, I bought a case of $3 wine. Only the best for my friends!!

I actually really enjoy Charles Shaw and can’t wait to have a glass or five tomorrow. I haven’t had even a sip of alcohol since April 30, and I’ll be ready to celebrate after my race!

The beautiful flowers from my mom made it home from work:

They look so nice and cheerful on this sunny day!

I want you guys to know that I’m just tickled by all the nice comments, messages and ACS donations that are rolling in as I get ready to race tomorrow. Every little boost of confidence helps!

And yes, I’m bringing “tickled” back. Such a good word.

My third (and final… ….) cake pop of the day. My co-worker brought a bunch in to celebrate my upcoming birthday and some promotions in our department.

When people at work comment on how healthily I eat, I usually respond with, “I eat healthily most of the time so I can eat crappily some of the time.”

Welcome to some of the time!

Edit: As Aaron likes to say, my tummybox is broken (stomach ache). Live and learn. Every single bite was delicious, though!

Runner’s World: Dozer the Goldendoodle Bandits Maryland Half-Marathon

DUDE. This dog is beating my fundraising total by $26 right now!

Bravo, Dozer. I’m not even upset. I get it… you’re way cuter than I am!

runnersworld:

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Dozer, a three-year-old Goldendoodle who lives along the Maryland Half-Marathon course, escaped his invisible fence and started running with the pack during Sunday’s race sometime before mile 5. Dozer’s owner began searching for him and he eventually returned…

Lucas and I are now Facebook friends, and I spotted this photo on his profile and asked about his race. He said:

The race I did, which was my first race by the way, was the 10k of Lausanne (the town where I study) in the end of April. It’s a very big race (for us small Swiss people…) with about 20,000 runners in several categories. It was an unforgettable memory!

If you needed any more proof that Lucas is awesome… there you go.

Also, I wanna give a shoutout to another awesome guy who helped with The Best Running Raffle EVER!Ben Davis, who happens to be turning 25 today.

He didn’t hesitate for a moment when I asked him if he’d like to donate some Do Life gear to the raffle. In fact, I believe his words were, “WOOO! RAFFLE.”

The American Cancer Society’s goal is to help people celebrate more birthdays, and Ben has done just that over the last few years by inspiring countless people to get active and reclaim their health. So many people will celebrate more birthdays in their lives because of Ben.

Today, let’s celebrate his. Happy birthday, Ben!

Anyone still awake?

If so, the “Swiss Bonus," in honor of Lucas, is still effect for another 30 minutes — until midnight Pacific time!

That means if you donate any amount to my American Cancer Society fundraising efforts by midnight, you’ll not only be entered to win a prize from The Best Running Raffle EVER!, but you’ll get 5 extra entries to boot! That means:

– A $5 donation equals 1 entry + 5 = 6 entries
– A $10 donation equals 2 entries + 5 = 7 entries
– A $15 donation equals 3 entries + 5 = 8 entries
– A $25 donation equals 7 entries + 5 = 12 entries
– A $50 donation equals 15 entries + 5 = 20 entries

Click here for all the details on how to donate.

Some sent me message today saying they were able to donate "only $5.” I messaged back to say that “only $5” is HUGE.

When faced with any decision, the first thing you have to choose is whether to act or do nothing. When you donate “only $5,” that means you’ve chosen to act, and that’s worth a whole lot more than $5 in my book.

Big thanks to all of you who have chosen to act, whether you’ve donated $5 or $50. My heart leaps every time I get an email notification about a donation. Your support really means the world to me.

Eat my dust!

Two quick (for me) miles. Last run before the 15K. I definitely won’t be running this fast in the race, but it was nice to knock these miles out in the beautiful sunshine!

Speaking of sunshine, this was part of an email about the race today…

Sha-bam!

This was also part of that email. Please note that my job title is literally “Proofreader”:

I just… I just don’t even know.

Anyone want to Remeem some Souls? Sounds scary!
