Getting crafty in preparation for my first 10K tomorrow!

If you’ve already donated to my American Cancer Society fundraising efforts, your name is going on this shirt! There’s still time to donate if you want to be added – or you can donate in honor of a loved one and I can add that person’s name.

Just click here to donate by 10 p.m. Pacific time (gotta get my sleep!), and send a message to my Ask box with the name you’d like to add.

Thanks to all of you who’ve shown your support as I recovered from a frustrating injury and got back on my feet just in time to prep a bit for this race!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got 16 fantastic names to iron onto my shirt. Thanks for running with me, guys.

Thanks for the NYC feedback!

I’m thinking the first weekend of October. Exciting!

Side note: I had my heart set on attending NYU. I got in, and even got some amazing scholarships, but it was still gonna be ridiculously expensive. I went to the University of Washington instead and am now thankful I have $0 in student-loan debt instead of $80,000+. (Thank you for your wise advice when I was a crazy 18-year-old, Mom.) I’m excited to visit NYC and live my teenage dream for a weekend.

Side-side note: This September is the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Wow.

Gun Show Thursday

Who makes these things up? At RunWithRach’s encouragement, I decided to check up on the status of my own guns. What I found was kind of pathetic:

I can barely do a single regular pushup. Last fall, I could do 10 regular pushups, and my all-time record is 12 (after a few shots of tequila; that story is here, about halfway down). Time to work on my upper-body strength so I don’t just become a marshmallow person who can run really far. I started with a 40-minute Jillian Michaels DVD tonight.

Can I throw out a suggestion that we start “Leg Saturday” or something? I’d actually have some quads to contribute. I bet all you runners have some vicious leg muscles to show off!

Trying on clothes I’ll never buy that were made for a climate I don’t live in – an inexpensive and entertaining little hobby!

If, unlike me, you actually wear skirts and live in a region where “spring” is more than just a pleasant myth, hop over to Loft and pick up this bright number. Then send me some sunshine, por favor!
