2011 in running

2011 began with a run — the first 5K I ever ran without walking at all!

Resolution Run 5K and Polar Bear Dive — 1/1/11
31:03 — 10:01 pace

In January, 5K was the farthest I’d ever raced and 5 miles was the farthest I’d ever run at one time.

2011 ended with a run — an amazing sunset 4-miler on my favorite trail to finish the year on a high note.

New Year’s Eve 4-miler — 12/31/11
33:39 — 8:24 pace

Somehow, in between these two runs, I ran 770 miles.

I ran my first 10K, 15K and half-marathon (plus another half for good measure). I did a triathlon. And then I ran a mothereffing marathon.

Today I put together a year-end recap for Answering Oliver:

My Top 10 Favorite Experiences of 2011

Can you guess which experience took the #1 spot? I’ll give you a hint.

Oh yeah. This is definitely in the top five best experiences of my life.

I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, whether you’re running, drankin’/partying (my route) or spending a quiet night at home!

See you in 2012!
