* Last night I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym in 46:10 (9:13 pace).
* I ran while watching TV and would glance over at the next closest TV whenever mine was at a commercial break. At one point I glanced over just in time to catch the closed-captioning of Anderson Cooper saying (paraphrased): “Kim Kardashian is laughing all the way to the bank. Even if she locked herself in the bank vault, you could hear her laughter floating up to the street, where Kris Jenner is busy double-parking her Bentley on your soul.”
* I nearly fell off the treadmill laughing. I love Anderson Cooper.
* I failed to mention that during my 18-miler, I chafed for the first time. Now I know the pain that all of you runners/triathletes speak of. The damage is just above my armpits (gross), and it hurts when I stretch my arms out above my head and yawn, which is far too often.
* I just recapped Marathon Training: Week 14 on Answering Oliver, and after I hit “publish,” I realized that I’m really proud of how I handled last week’s illness: I took a break from training, allowed myself to fully recover and didn’t freak out about missing a combined 14 miles of running over several days. Some of you may remember the panic attack I had in April while training for my first half, and I also wrote quite a bit back then about training anxiety. This time around I don’t stress about my training – rather, I truly enjoy and look forward to it. That’s kind of big.
That’s all I’ve got for ya now. Happy not-Monday!
