Hey, new shoes!

Oh, Brooks, I will love you forever, and not just because you send me fun stuff sometimes. Your shoes are the best and I’ll never stray. Amen.

I took my new Ghost 4s on their first run tonight, and they felt pretty great! I’m in a deep, committed relationship with my Ghost 3s right now, but I know by the time my half-marathon/triathlon/marathon (sheesh) training is over, they’ll be finished. I jumped on a Road Runner sale so I could start gradually breaking in the Ghost 4s and make a seamless transition when the sad, tragic day comes to say goodbye to the 3s.

The first run was a success!

Another completely exhausting run, followed up by a trip to the gym for strength training. I am love-love-loving Tuesdays and Thursdays because I get to lift! Who knew I’d like it so much? Now that I’m not intimidated by the scary, muscular guys by the free weights, going to the gym is fun and I leave feeling strong.

I’m inspired by Emily at Daily Garnish and Tina at Carrots ‘N’ Cake when it comes to strength training. They’re both huge advocates for women to hit the weights, as it helps not only overall fitness, but also running ability — a strong upper body and core = good times.

I should take a before-ish picture to compare with an after-ish picture to see if there are any noticeable muscular changes over the next several weeks! I’ll put that on my to-do for this weekend…
